Dr. Gecha was graduated cum laude from Yale University in 1976. He received his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School in 1980. He completed his surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He then served a one year Sports Medicine Fellowship in Philadelphia at the University of Pennsylvania Sports Medicine Center.
During his fellowship, Dr. Gecha was involved with the care of numerous college and professional sports teams, including the University of Pennsylvania athletic teams and the Philadelphia Flyers professional ice hockey team.
Dr. Gecha has published several articles on his research in orthopaedics and has made presentations at a number of national professional meetings and conventions. He is involved with numerous area high schools and colleges as an orthopaedic consultant.
Dr. Gecha is also currently involved with research and teaching in the position of Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, and Sports Medicine of Philadelphia.
