Cathy is an office-based Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. She has been a longstanding and devoted employee with Princeton Orthopedic Associates. She originally started at POA in December 2006, collaborating with Dr. Fleming as a Nurse Practitioner in the office as well as a certified nurse first assistant in the operating rooms. She has worked alongside many of the POA surgeons in the office and in the operating rooms, as well as urgent care evening hours when they were first instituted in 2016.
Upon Dr. Fleming’s retirement in 2017, Cathy eagerly accepted the position as “Hands-on Operating Room Nurse Manager” for POA’s Ambulatory Surgical Center, encompassing orthopedic procedures ranging from total joint surgery, sport medicine shoulder and knee surgery, hand and foot surgery, pain management and GI endoscopy. She was actively engaged in all facets of perioperative nursing from admission to discharge, while still maintaining per diem status working in urgent care. Missing clinical patient care, she returned in June 2023 to office-based – urgent care adult acute care nurse practitioner treating patients over the age of 12 years old.
Cathy attended the University of Delaware for her undergraduate studies. She obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Magna Cum Laude. Cathy completed a Master of Science in Nursing(MSN) degree with a certification program as an Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner at The University of Pennsylvania, graduating Summa Cum Laude in September 2005 and successfully passing her certification board through the American Nurses Credentialing Center in November 2005. Cathy is an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners AANP), The National Association of Orthopedic Nurses (NAON) with a certification as an Orthopedic Nurse Practitioner(ONP-C) and is an active member in the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and is certified as an OR room nurse (CNOR) and Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA). She maintains continuous certification and training in Advanced Cardiac life support ( ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS), and Pediatric Cardiac Life Support (PALS).
Currently, in her role as a board certified Adult Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Cathy’s responsibilities include the evaluation and treatment of soft tissue, bone and joint disorders. In addition to evaluating patients in the office, she orders and interprets appropriate laboratory testing and diagnostic imaging, and performs office procedures including injections, aspirations, splinting and casting. She looks forward to connecting with her patients and adheres to Princeton Orthopaedics' philosophy of providing the best extraordinary care, directed by outcome-focused treatment and compassionate care.
