Aquatherapy is a form of physical therapy that many patients choose because it tends to be easier on sore joints. Patients do their exercises in a small pool of warm water, and the buoyancy of the water provides extra support and makes it easier to move. Aquatherapy is used for everything from arthritis to injury recovery.
Water provides a soothing feel and a natural resistance, making it more comfortable for patients trying to rehabilitate joints or injuries. The water supports the body better, taking excess stress off sore joints.
The water also provides resistance naturally, which means you don’t have to worry about lifting weights. The water in our aquatherapy pool is warm to relax your muscles and make your exercise more effective. The warmth also increases blood flow, which helps the injured area heal faster.
Aquatherapy’s ability to relax your muscles allows you to improve your range of motion and flexibility. Patients will enter the pool and let the warmth soothe the muscles. Then, you will undergo a series of movements and exercises in the water.
Patients undergo aquatherapy at least twice a week. This allows the patient to regain strength and motion. It can also help relieve certain types of arthritis.
