Dr. Michael Palmer provided me with excellent medical care and gave me sage advice that still resonates with me today: Take the time to care for your back and body. It is like a bank. Put a nickel in and get a dime out. With his direction, I underwent PT and then segued into working with a trainer. This care eliminated years of back pain, and I am happy to say that I am now pain free for two years.

I have been treated by Dr. Palmer for a knee injury. His understanding of what was wrong and careful explanation of how to rehab it put me back on the basketball court at an age when most players have stopped playing.

Dr. Palmer and I met approximately eight years ago. I was recommended to Princeton Orthopaedics by a colleague who had a similar problem as I did – two bad knees with arthritis in both knees. I basically was hobbled at the age of 45 years old. I stopped all athletic activity, had trouble going up and down steps. Walking warehouse floors was a large part of my job. A casual trip to the beach was a nightmare. Pain and frustration followed me everywhere.
In the beginning, the thought of having cortisone injections in both knees was about the last thing I wanted to do, but after consulting with Dr. Palmer, I began to realize that in order to find a somewhat more quality of life, I needed to believe there was a method to this madness of pain relief through injection. Ugh. At first I was very timid, but Dr. Palmer’s gentle technique and expertise was incredible. I began a program of cortisone treatment and hyaluronan. These treatments were success in treating pain, to the point that I was fortunate to resume skiing again and other nonimpact athletic endeavors.
I think the doctor bridged the gap from pain management, until finally both knees needed total reconstruction. I was very confident when Dr. Palmer finally said very honestly one afternoon, that the time had come that a decision needed to be made to go on to the next step – double knee replacement. I credit Dr. Palmer with giving me the best advice of my life.
After three months of rehab, I am back doing the activities I did in my 20s and 30s – riding a bike, walking the boardwalk, and running the beach every day in the summer! Stairs are no longer a dreaded obstacle; in fact, bouncing up and down the steps just as I did as a teenager is now a delight. I have also lost 35 pounds after many years of choosing to sit and veg-out, instead of activity in the gym. I now have my life back and feel like I have regained the 10-15 years that the pain and arthritis took from me. Thanks Doc. It was a pleasure getting to know you, and be the best recipient of the best orthopedic care I could ever have possibly decided.
Thanks for giving me back motion and pain free movement!
No words can express my gratitude towards your good will. You help make the world a better place and I appreciate that, so thank you for being you.
For years, I had heard how wonderful Dr. Palmer was in the treatment of many pain patients. Unfortunately, this past summer I had substantial back pain and found myself in need of treatment. Dr. Palmer was my first choice and he lived up to every praise I had ever heard about him. Dr. Palmer spent his time really listening to my issues in order to give me proper evaluation. He is compassionate and was dedicated to providing me with quick pain relief. Dr. Palmer’s injection technique was delicate and did not hurt me at all.
In a followup appointment, Dr. Palmer discussed both long and short term strategies with me, allowing me the opportunity to find a solution that met my needs. I ultimately ended up getting surgery, but would recommend him to anyone in need of a pain management, and an honest, very educated opinion.
I can’t say enough good things about the care and the attention I received from Dr. Palmer. I have degenerative joint disease and problems variously with my spine, hips, and shoulders. While I have had some surgery, I am absolutely convinced that I would be in much worse shape without the care and advice from Dr. Palmer, who is clearly up on the absolutely latest nonsurgical techniques. I can’t imagine every having a better orthopedic doctor.
Dr. Miller-Smith is an outstanding clinician. She listens well, asks multiple questions, suggests various methods for treatment, and follows through on outcome.
At 68, I rarely find physicians who give me the kind of respect she does. As we age, I find too often my complaints are dismissed. Dr. Miller-Smith treats women with the same care I am sure she extends to men, as well.
Additionally, Sharon, Dr. Miller-Smith’s assistant, and also the front desk staff at Princeton Orthopaedics, are all friendly, courteous, and competent worker
